Diversity update

Gary Plano reminded me of an interesting aspect of his data. If you're not an ELL student, it pays to be in a class with lots of ELL students, but only if you're in a Cognitive Tutor class.

The explanation, presumably, is that, in Cognitive Tutor classes, its more acceptable to talk with other students than in traditional classes.

The implication for policy is even more interesting. Diversity improves education, but only if the educational culture is structured to let it do so.
